Developing the Team and Developing the Organisation

Over a 6-month period this music and schools services business has created a strategy that will enable it to grow despite severe financial pressures in the education sector.

Challenge

Due to budget cuts in schools, our client was about to go over a funding cliff. Despite its strong reputation for quality and excellence in providing services to schools and the gift of music to thousands of school children, there was no guarantee that the discretionary spend in schools would come to our client.

Approach

We shaped four workshops for the senior leaders, focused on two key goals – to develop a strategy that would enable the organisation to grow and to create an effective leadership team able to lead and deliver this strategy.

What we brought were frameworks, ways of thinking and the facilitation skills to help the leadership team focus on the things that mattered and turn thinking into action. Learning was a key component of this work – not just learning about working strategically and leading change, but learning through doing.

Outcome

The two goals we were set intertwined. The process of creating ambition, strategy and plans has helped a leadership team to form. Plans are now being implemented to sustain existing business and grow new business and the cliff edge is no longer an imminent threat.
